I was able to do a fitting on the Han Solo shirt tonight. The arms needed to be taken in because Han's are pretty form fitting. I go back and forth on the fabric for this shirt, sometimes the real shirt looks like it's behaving like knit, sometimes not.
Tomorrow I'll just have to mark the highwater sleeve hem and finish those off. Then it will be done :)
The only part I'm not liking right now is the neck. I should have stay stitched the neckline before attaching the collar. It ended up getting stretched out and I'm not all that happy with it. I might toy with it after Halloween if it really bugs me.
I wasted most of my time today transfering a kwik-sew pattern to tissue paper and sewing a muslin for the pants. I don't know what the problem is with these patterns for men's pants. He's a 31-32. I cut out the 32 and even added 1.5 inches to the crotch depth since he's longwaisted. They fit him more like a 28 or 29 in the hips. Ugh! So it's back to the drawing board tomorrow with a different slacks pattern. I'll error on the large side and cut him out the 34s. I figure since he's long waisted maybe all I'll have to do is take in the side seams *crossing my fingers*.
If I want to stay on schedule I need to get his pants knocked out by Friday or Saturday. But if I can't get a pattern to work I'm screwed!

I had a feeling this was going to be troublesome
That's the entire reason I had a pair of pants made - I had heard over the years that pants are very tricky and finding a good pattern to work from can be difficult. Unfortunately the pants I had made were too small and I would have had to line them. Maybe next Halloween I can e-bay them off at a loss?He has an old pair of Lee Jeans that are just slightly too small for him. They were purchased for only a few dollars from a thrift store to use when we go camping. He said if I have to, just rip them apart and use them as a pattern.

Sorry for randomness but...
Are you the Kay dee who did the AMAZING Purple Senate gown? Do you mind if I add you to my friends list? Thanks!October 19 2005, 06:20:45 UTC 6 years ago
Re: Sorry for randomness but...
Yes, I'm the Kay Dee with the Senate Dress. At the top of my LJ there is a link to my web site with all the costumes I've made for myself (not a lot since I'm slow).- Kay Dee
